Olive (Olive)

The privet plant (Latin Ligustrum) is a genus of evergreen, semi-evergreen and deciduous shrubs and small trees of the Olive family, which includes about 50 species common in nature in Europe, Asia, Australia and North Africa. Privet is represented most diversely in the flora of China, Japan, the Himalayas and Taiwan. The Latin name of the plant is derived from the verb "ligare", which means "to bind", and explains the astringent properties of privet bark.
